1. Finalizing the first house

House hunting can be tiresome, but checking out several places before making the final decision is very important. REMEMBER, this is going to be your house for the next few months or years, and you want it to be a place that makes you feel at least somewhat close to being home.

2. Not checking every nook and corner

After you finally choose the place, make sure to check every nook and corner of the house critically. From the switchboards, the drawers, the taps, the water pressure, the washroom, to even the smallest of cracks. Make a list of all the things that need to get fixed and bring it to your landlord's notice to save you from paying for it in the future.

3. Not researching the locality

The location of your house is as important as your house. Especially when you're moving out alone. Having a decent and healthy community and environment is essential. You want to be around people you can reach out to in times of need and save yourself from the 'in-your-business aunties and uncles'

4. Being lazy with the accounts

Being financially organized is probably the most important thing that needs to be kept in mind. Managing your daily income and expenditure is a must. This small step of keeping your accounts in check will help you not overshoot your budget and pay the bills in time.

5. Not bargaining enough for the rent

Everything can be bargained, even rent! NEVER SETTLE FOR THE QUOTED RENT. Discuss with your landlord and try making it a win-win situation.

6. Being over-ambitious

Everything might not turn out to be how you imagined. Being over-ambitious might make you lose out on something that could really be good for you. Take one step at a time.

7. Don’t go overboard with decorating your house

Remember you're in a rented space and doing a lot or investing too much into your interiors might just not be the right choice. Make do with whatever is already available to you and stick to mostly thrifting, DIY, or recycling. Also, do not make any permanent changes in the house that you'll have to end up paying for.

8. Over shopping

As overwhelming as it is, it is also very exciting to move out and settle independently. You'll feel like you need everything under the sun when you go shopping so to avoid overshooting your budget prepare a list of the necessities and stick to it and the things that you actually need.

9. Being Unorganized

Remember it's not easy and it is a big step to move out. As exciting as it may sound, you can't afford to be irresponsible. You should be ready to take all the responsibilities on your shoulders. From cleaning the house, making your bed every morning, cooking, washing the utensils to even sweeping and swooping. it's best to prepare a schedule and follow it to prevent from things piling up, especially house chores.

10. Not setting up firm boundaries

Being friendly is a good thing but when moving out to a new place, setting up boundaries is a must. Be it a locality friend, neighbour, or even your landlord/landlady.
